Entrance Tables
5. What safety standards do your entrance tables meet?
Our entrance tables are general‑use furniture products. If the table meets the CPSC definition of a Clothing Storage Unit (CSU) — free‑standing, height ≥27 inches, mass ≥30 pounds, enclosed storage volume ≥3.2 cubic feet — it complies with the mandatory safety standard under the STURDY Act: 16 CFR Part 1261 which incorporates ASTM F2057-23. This includes anti‑tip devices (meeting ASTM F3096), permanent warning labels, and hang tags with performance data. Entrance tables not meeting CSU criteria must still comply with ASTM stability standards and 16 CFR Part 1303 for surface coating lead limits.
6. Do entrance tables require anti‑tip devices?
Only entrance tables meeting the CSU criteria require anti‑tip devices. We include anti‑tip hardware with all qualifying tables. ALWAYS anchor tall tables to the wall using the provided device, which is tested to 60 lb static load. Failure to anchor can result in tip‑over, causing serious injury or death.
7. Other safety requirements for entrance tables:
-
Lead in surface coatings (16 CFR Part 1303): Any paint or surface coating on furniture articles for consumer use must not exceed 90 ppm lead. This applies to all furniture, regardless of age designation.
-
Formaldehyde emissions (CARB ATCM Phase 2): Composite wood components (e.g., MDF, particleboard) meet ≤0.05 ppm emissions.
-
Flammability: Upholstered components (if applicable) meet California TB 117‑2013.
-
Children‘s entrance tables: If intended for children 12 and under, additional CPSIA lead (<100 ppm substrate) and phthalates (<0.1%) limits apply, with 16 CFR Part 1130 tracking labels and CPC certification.
